Going Out
Restaurant: The Clove Club

The incessant chatter and hype about this new restaurant, the latest venture from the boys behind Spitalfields favourite Upstairs at The Ten Bells and private dining club The Clove Club, seems well founded. It opened earlier this week in Shoreditch Town Hall on March 4th and we went along to a pre-launch. The wood-pigeon sausage was softly succulent, the buttermilk chicken bites flavoursome, the oak-smoked cod’s roe and fennel on crackers creamy, crunchy and moreish. The split room has a pared down, industrial-meets-rustic vibe – one side has high stools surrounding a metal-framed bar and a menu of sharing plates, the other is cosier, the simple décor being an assortment of wooden tables facing a central cooking station backed by gleaming murky sea-blue tiles, which serves a 5-course meal for £46. Book fast, we say.
