EVENT EXPIRED
We saw this adaptation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis, by writer and director David Farr and Icelandic actor and director Gísli Örn Garðarsson back in 2006 when it was first devised and couldn’t believe how totally brilliant it was. We wondered how the literary masterpiece, about a man who wakes up to discover he has been transformed into a monstrous insect, could ever work on stage without being totally unconvincing or pretentious, but Farr and Örn Garðarsson pulled it off and then some. Not surprisingly, the production got amazing reviews and became a huge hit, selling out then, and again in 2008 when it returned to the Lyric, as well as wherever it has played around the world. Now, 100 years after the book was written, the production returns again to its original home in Hammersmith. We urge you to see it. You won’t believe Örn Garðarsson’s performance as Gregor Samsa. It’s mind blowing. But the whole production – direction, acting, sets and music – by Nick Cave no less – is fantastically riveting and compelling. Book now. It will sell out.
