EVENT EXPIRED
With costumes by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin and French film star Juliette Binoche in the title role, this really is a super-glam production of Strindberg’s Mademoiselle Julie. A contemporary version of the 1888 play, directed by Frédéric Fisbach, about a baron’s daughter who seduces her father’s valet, it’s even performed in French – although don’t worry, there are subtitles for those whose gallic language skills are a little rusty. With rave reviews when it was performed last year at the Avignon Festival, for which it was commissioned, it will be playing at the Barbican for 9 days only this September and tickets have just gone on sale with prices starting at a reasonable £16. We’d advise you get booking before tickets sell out.
