EVENT EXPIRED

Hitchcock’s rare silent masterpiece, The Ring (and his only original screenplay), along with many of his other films, have recently restored by the BFI National Archive, so now is a great time to catch up on this amazing film maker’s work. Now, in the case of The Ring, being this Friday, when you can see the taught thriller that tells the story of a love triangle between boxer Bob Corby, his sparring partner Jack Sander and Jack’s beautiful wife Mabel, at The Hackney Empire with a specially commissioned score by Jazz musician Soweto Kinch performed live by Kinch and his band. If you can’t make it to Hackney, and we realise we haven’t given you much notice, then watch the film with its live score from your own sofa, as a live stream courtesy of the new arts website TheSpace.org. Quite aside from Hitchcock, do check out The Space, which was launched in May and is a great site where you can see all kinds of films, performances and arts events, often streamed live, and all for free. It also has as some great rare archive material, such as BFI Beginnings, a showcase of the first or early films of filmmakers such as Lynne Ramsay, Ken Russell, Stephen Frears, Ridley Scott and Shane Meadows.
