Music: book now for BT River of Music

We might have been a bit sniffy about some of the Cultural Olympiad ambitions, but even we have to admit that this BT River of Music, a 2 day celebration of world music, sounds rather fab.  Held in 6 different locations along the river Thames such as Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Somerset House and Battersea Park, there are a series of musicians playing under the different sections of Asian, European, American, Oceanic and African stages.  Our top picks are the Scissor Sisters and Buena Vista Social Club acolyte Roberto Fonseca at the Americas stage, Baaba Maal at the Africas stage, the Kronos Quartet at the Asia Stage and Matthew Herbert at the Europe Stage.  And the best news is that everything is free.  Tickets will be released weekly from 15 May and all you have to do is sign up so they can let you know when tickets become available. We think it’s a no brainer.
