Prize draw: win signed copies of The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach

Art of Fielding
When: Prize draw ends 5pm, Fri 27 Jan 2012

EVENT EXPIRED

If you haven’t heard the raves about The Art of Fielding – a big, fat, totally brill American novel by first time author Chad Harbach – you soon will. (Vanity Fair published a 16 page article, now an ebook, in its October 2011 issue about it, just for instance). So we won’t give you a full plot synopsis here. In a sentence, it’s about baseball playing college students at a small liberal arts college in the Midwest and what happens when the most gifted, Henry Skrimshander, suddenly looses his nerve. What is worth saying is that, yes! It lives up to the hype! And no, it doesn’t matter if you don’t like baseball. The love stories in it, apart from anything else, are beyond touching. We devoured this book. It’s one of those rare reads that you race through while at the same time savouring every page. It’s a cancel-all-plans book – especially perfect in January when things are quiet anyway. PLUS, we’ve got three copies to give away and two of them are signed (basically gold dust). To win one of the books, fill in the form below by 5pm on 27 Jan. The first two names we pull out of a hat will win the signed copies, the third will get the unsigned. All are gorgeous hardbacks.
